Baptism

Baptism is the first step for all who are wanting to be a part of the Christian community and live their lives according to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Whether we are baptised as infants or adults, Baptism the Church's way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.

Baptism brings us into the family God and makes us members of his Body, the Church. By our Baptism we are commissioned be disciples of Christ.

These roles are fulfilled in the world through our being anointed to be Priest, Prophet and King.

  • As Priests, to pray with, for and on behalf of the whole world in our daily lives.
  • As Prophets, to proclaim to the world that God is love, by our actions and our words.
  • As Kings, to protect and safeguard the most vulnerable - walking with alongside them in all their needs.

The Godfather and Mother, as well as the whole Church Community, share the responsibility with the parents for baptismal preparation, as well as for the development and safeguarding of the faith and grace given at Baptism.
